Location: Middletown, OH (On-site)

Industry: Manufacturing – Steel Tubing

At Phillips Tube Works, we don’t just manufacture welded steel tubing—we engineer solutions that power industries and move innovation forward. As part of the Phillips Tube Group, we are expanding our automation capabilities to meet strategic growth goals, and we’re looking for a Mechanical/Process Engineer to join our Innovation Team. This is a high-impact, newly created role supporting our commitment to automation—focusing on inspection systems, material conveyance, packaging, and more. You’ll be at the forefront of transforming ideas into functional plant-floor processes while collaborating across engineering, production, and leadership.


What You’ll Do

  • Research and present automation strategies to Senior Leadership and the Board
  • Develop and support implementation of automated systems across inspection, packaging, conveyance, and warehouse functions
  • Manage project schedules, vendor comparisons, budgets, and maintenance programs
  • Assess long-term upgrade needs with Maintenance and Production leadership
  • Provide hands-on engineering design, documentation updates, and CAD/CAM modeling
  • Solve real-time challenges in mechanical design and systems performance
  • Travel occasionally to support multi-site automation initiatives
  • Ensure technical documentation is up to date and confidential projects are secured


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Process, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
  • 3–8 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing or mill environment
  • Hands-on experience with automation systems including conveyor systems, PLCs, motors, and control systems
  • CAD/CAM proficiency and working knowledge of metallurgical processes
  • Ability to manage complex projects, think spatially, and innovate over long timelines
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal and external partners
  • A passion for process improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence
