ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Pipefitter to support retrofit and mechanical system installation projects throughout Southern California.

This position is based out of Bloomington, CA, with frequent travel required to job sites across the region. A daily per diem is provided and hotel accommodations are covered by the company when overnight stays are necessary.

The Mechanical Pipefitter will install, maintain, and repair piping systems, HVAC components, and mechanical equipment for commercial and industrial clients—ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standard in alignment with Kelso's Big Four Pillars: Safety, Quality, Customer Success, and Employee Fulfillment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, valves, and mechanical equipment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Perform layout and fabrication of piping systems using copper, steel, PVC, and other materials.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate project activities.

  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and local building codes.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC and piping systems.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on all job sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical or pipefitting roles (retrofit or commercial HVAC ).

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water, steam, and hydronic piping.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent attention to detail, safety focus, and teamwork .

  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as needed.
