Job Description

Mechanical Manager Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Reporting to and working closely with the Project Director and overall MEP leadership team.\n\n * \n\n Leading the mechanical delivery across multiple projects or large-scale developments, ensuring programme, quality, and budget objectives are met.\n\n * \n\n Managing and supporting Mechanical Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure consistent project execution.\n\n * \n\n Overseeing all mechanical activities including HVAC, public health, plumbing, and plant room installations.\n\n * \n\n Reviewing and approving technical submissions, design drawings, and installation methodologies.\n\n * \n\n Developing and managing project schedules, resource plans, and cost forecasts for mechanical packages.\n\n * \n\n Ensuring all mechanical works are installed in line with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards (CIBSE, BS, etc.).\n\n * \n\n Conducting regular progress reviews, site inspections, and performance meetings with supervisors and subcontractors.\n\n * \n\n Supporting commissioning, testing, and handover phases including documentation and client demonstrations.\n\n * \n\n Implementing quality assurance and control measures to reduce rework and maintain high installation standards.\n\n * \n\n Driving a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all mechanical operations.\n\n * \n\n Liaising with design teams, main contractors, and other disciplines to coordinate mechanical systems within the overall construction programme.\n\n * \n\n Preparing progress reports, forecasts, and project documentation for senior management and clients.\n\nMechanical Manager Requirements\n\n * \n\n Proven experience managing mechanical works on large-scale commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction projects.\n\n * \n\n Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, public health, and mechanical plant systems.\n\n * \n\n Demonstrated success in delivering complex projects to programme, budget, and quality standards.\n\n * \n\n Proficient in reading and interpreting design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\n\n * \n\n Familiar with modern construction methods, MEP coordination, and BIM integration.\n\n * \n\n Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.\n\n * \n\n CSCS Card - SMSTS\n\nKey Competencies\n\n * \n\n Strategic planning and project delivery\n\n * \n\n Leadership and team development\n\n * \n\n Quality management and technical oversight\n\n * \n\n Health, Safety & Environmental compliance\n\n * \n\n Coordination and stakeholder management\n\n * \n\n Cost control and commercial awareness\n\n * \n\n Problem-solving and decision-making\n\n * \n\n Strong reporting and documentation skills
