Job Description

Mechanical Technician\n\nFirst Achieve Engineering are supporting a key client in the recruitment of a Mechanical Technician. This role is central to delivering high-quality rotating equipment maintenance, repair and overhaul activities on a large industrial site. The position involves carrying out removal, strip-down, inspection, repair, rebuild, installation, and commissioning of a wide variety of rotating and mechanical equipment as part of both corrective and preventative maintenance.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out strip-down, inspection, repair, reassembly, and commissioning of rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, turbines, valves, and electric motors.\n\nComplete all required documentation including strip-down reports, rebuild records, dimensional checks, tolerances and clearance measurements.\n\nFollow technical method statements and be able to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.\n\nWork in full compliance with site HSEQ procedures and safety systems.\n\nParticipate in risk assessments, site inductions, toolbox talks, and follow permit-to-work requirements at all times.\n\nReport any safety concerns, near misses, incidents, or issues promptly.\n\nMaintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring the site and workshop are inspection-ready at all times.\n\nRequired Skills & Experience\n\nProven experience working with rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, turbines, gearboxes, and valves.\n\nAbility to diagnose faults, collect and interpret data, and draw accurate conclusions.\n\nStrong ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents.\nPositive, flexible, and self-motivated attitude.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.\n\nEffective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\n\nAble to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.\n\nProficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).\n\nExperience using ERP or work-order systems beneficial.\n\nCertificates & Licensing\n\nSafety Passport or equivalent site-safety certification.\n\nFull UK Driving Licence.\n\nValid Passport .\n\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements\n\nMust be medically fit for the role and willing to undertake drug and alcohol testing when required.\n\nComfortable working overtime or responding to call-outs as operational needs dictate.\n\nAble to perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.\n\nWhat's on Offer?\n\nA strong and competitive benefits package including:\n\nCompetitive base rate\n\nEnhanced overtime rates\n\n26 days annual leave + 7 bank holidays\n\nHoliday Buy Scheme - purchase up to 5 extra days annually\n\nPension Scheme - up to 8% employer contributions\n\nEnhanced Company Sick Pay\n\nLife Assurance: 2x annual salary (non-pension members)/4x annual salary (pension members)\n\nEmployee Referral Scheme
