Working on a shift-based rota, the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for hands-on maintenance, fault finding, and repair of a wide range of mechanical systems to minimise downtime and support continuous production.\n In this Mechanical Maintenance Engineer position, your responsibilities will include:\n\nCarrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections across site equipment\nDiagnosing and resolving mechanical faults quickly to reduce production downtime\nRepairing or replacing components across machinery including thermoformers, extruders, conveyors, compressors, pumps, motors, HVAC systems, and gearboxes\nSupporting installation, commissioning, and testing of new machinery\nEnsuring all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety, Quality, Hygiene, and Environmental standards\nCompleting maintenance documentation, reports, and handovers accurately\nWorking collaboratively with production teams, maintenance colleagues, and external contractors\nManaging and maintaining spare parts inventory and escalating requirements when needed\nSupporting root cause analysis investigations and implementing long-term solutions\nIdentifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance\nSupporting fire safety procedures, including alarm testing and acting as a fire marshal when required\nHighlighting potential equipment or tooling issues that may impact production performanceTo be successful in this Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role, you will need:\n\nA recognised mechanical qualification (City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent)\nProven experience within a manufacturing or production environment\nStrong knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC\nExperience working with PPM systems and maintenance schedules\nSolid fault-finding and problem-solving skills, ideally with Root Cause Analysis experience\nThe ability to work effectively within a shift-based environmentDesirable skills for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer include:\n\nWelding and fabrication experience\nAbrasive wheels certificationIn return, the successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will benefit from:\n\nA competitive salary package (£47,000 – £53,500 including shift allowance)\nPanama shift pattern offering structured work-life balance\n6-monthly production bonus\nGroup life assurance and healthcare cash plan\nLong service rewards\nContribution towards safety equipment\nA supportive, team-focused environment with strong career development opportunitiesThis is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a business that values reliability, innovation, and continuous improvement.\n Ian Broadhurst\n (phone number removed)\n (url removed)
