Location: Sandown, Aldridge
Salary: Annual average ~£48,000
Hours: 4 on / 4 off shift pattern - "earlies" 6:30am-6:30pm, "lates" 11:00am-11:00pm; plus one 8.5-hour Saturday shift per 8-week cycle
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

\n \nThe Role\n

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Maintenance Fitter) to join the hands-on in-house team at their Sandown site. You will be responsible for keeping plant machinery running smoothly through troubleshooting, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), and hands-on mechanical repairs.

\n

This is a varied and dynamic role, combining skills in fitting, fabrication, welding, and service engineering. Your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities will be used daily to maximise production efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on plant machinery

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive chains

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Perform bearing fitting, alignment, and minor fabrication/welding tasks

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Work flexibly across daily priorities to maintain production efficiency

    \n

  • \n

\n \nSkills & Experience\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • \n

    Mechanically biased engineer with experience in manufacturing/factory environments

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent)

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Strong knowledge of health, safety, and EHS processes

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Diagnostics experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive chain fault finding

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Bearing fitting / alignment experience

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Physically fit and able to perform hands-on duties

    \n

  • \n

Desirable:

    Completed hands-on apprentice training programme

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Experience in heavy industry manufacturing

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Knowledge of cutting & grinding regulations

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Arc & Mig welding / basic fabrication skills

    \n

  • \n

  • \n

    Electrical control systems experience

    \n
