We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our shipyard team. The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for performing detailed inspections on mechanical systems, components, and equipment used in shipbuilding, ship repair, and maintenance projects. This role ensures that all work meets industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company quality guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, machinery, piping, valves, pumps, and other shipboard equipment to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Verify installations, repairs, and modifications for accuracy and adherence to shipyard and regulatory requirements.

  • Review technical documentation, blueprints, and schematics for inspection criteria.

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and quality assurance personnel to resolve issues.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and shipyard regulations during inspections.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, and test equipment to validate mechanical tolerances and functionality.

  • Support customer, Navy, or Coast Guard representatives during audits and final inspections.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or technical degree in Mechanical Technology or a related field .

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in mechanical inspection, shipyard operations, or heavy industrial/mechanical environments.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, shipbuilding processes, and quality standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.

  • Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and pressure gauges.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with NAVSEA, ABS, or Coast Guard standards.

  • DBIDS access or eligibility to enter naval shipyards.

  • Certifications such as AWS, NDT (VT, MT, PT), or Competent Person are a plus.

  • Prior shipyard or maritime inspection experience highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling in shipyard and onboard vessel environments.

  • Comfortable working in noisy, industrial, and outdoor settings.
