Job Responsibilities:

• Lays out, fits, aligns, and assembles prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations.
• Performs fitting and machining operations such as straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, and countersink materials to close tolerances.
• Refers to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded.
• May repair or rework parts to restore to required tolerances which have become distorted as a result of welding operations.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  
  

**SHIP FITTER experience/shipyard REQUIRED Prior Shipyard** Prior Shipyard Experience of 1 to 5 years.

1. Confined space trained B.
2. Hazard communication trained
3. Respirator trained and qualified.
4. Fall Protection/4-D Body Harness-Vertical & Horizontal Lifelines-Beam Clamp trained and qualified
5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE*) training
6. Non-prescription and prescription safety glasses must meet the requirements of ANSI Z87, with permanently attached side shields.
7. All Leased Labor personnel engaged in Welding must wear either the Fiber Metal Type 1 Class C or the MSA Skullgard Class A Hard Hat only.
8. Hearing protection must be of the muff type (banded or mounted) and must have been trained on their use.
9. Foot protection must be 8” safety boots or leather safety shoes w/spats.
10. Coveralls must be flame resistant with long sleeves.
11. Audiometric testing which documents proof of individual worker's hearing function. .
12. The physical work effort expected is demanding. The temperature and humidity extremes that may be encountered are the result of ambient temperature and humidity levels in the work area.
13. Hexavalent Chromium medical examinations and clearances.
14. Full welding jacket.
15. Welding shield leather bib. * PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.
