Our esteemed port services customer is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their small but well ran and friendly engineering team, based at the port of Gt Yarmouth.



Purpose of the role



To support the Engineering Business Unit Manager and Facilities & Infrastructure Manager in their objectives and be responsible for ensuring that day to day maintenance functions within the given role of the business unit, operate safely and efficiently, providing operational areas and the port estate an on-time service.



Expectations



Join the Great Yarmouth Engineering Department, to safely and effectively complete planned and reactive maintenance work, ensuring all mechanical/maintenance equipment is compliant with current standards and legislation, with zero defects to maximise customer satisfaction.



Main Responsibilities



* Carry out hands-on preventative maintenance work on all mechanical and non-mechanical equipment in accordance with the Site Safety Rules set out by the compamny



* Work to Group Safe System of Work



* Deliver a safe personal working culture



* Attend to unplanned failures in a timely manner to meet reliability targets



* Complete Work progress sheets to identify work activity and delays



* Report parts and materials deficits to the Facilities & Infrastructure Manager without delay



* Suggest tactical decisions to Facilities & Infrastructure Manager to stay on schedule



* Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate



* Notify the Facilities & Infrastructure Manager of all operational issues affecting delivery to plan without delay



* Foster good relationships with internal stakeholders in particular Operations Team and Marine Team

For this role, we ideally seek:



* Mechanically biased with a strong understanding of hydraulic systems and excellent fault finding skills



* Demonstrate commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards



* Must be capable of working effectively under pressure in a critical, busy environment



* Understand permit to work systems and accident reporting



* Understand and demonstrate commitment to safety policies and procedures



* Knowledge of cranes and materials handlers extremely desirable



* Fault finding and repair is an absolute prerequisite for this position.



* The role requires a dynamic and eager individual with a can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in, accept change and make things happen.



* Knowledge and experience with relevant statutory requirements and legislation, including but not limited to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR.



* Must be willing to multi skill electrical/mechanical



* Must be willing to use fault finding diagnostic equipment to ensure reactive maintenance impact is minimized



* Knowledge of effective maintenance strategies i.e. RCM, PM, CBM & TPM.



* Some knowledge of CMMS or document sharing software



* Engineering experience in a heavy industrial environment e.g. port, process or manufacturing



* Time served Mechanical Technician



* Qualified to a minimum ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent



* Qualification in Fabrication and Welding would be advantageous



* First Aid Certification
