The Mechanical Field Service Technician provides onsite service, installation, and upgrades of mechanical equipment used in the wood processing industry. This position ensures all machinery operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to customer satisfaction, and the ability to work independently in varied environments.
How You Will Make a Positive Impact:
- Service, install, and upgrade mechanical equipment for wood processing operations.
- Perform machine center alignment and installation to meet performance specifications.
- Inspect and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, drive, and lubrication systems.
- Conduct welding, fitting, and alignment of mechanical components.
- Communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and project managers to resolve technical issues.
- Complete service reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Ensure all work complies with USNR and customer safety standards.
- Travel extensively to customer locations across North America and internationally.
The Value You Bring:
- Millwright or Fabricator trade qualification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the wood products or heavy industrial equipment industry .
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems.
- Proficiency in welding, fitting, and machine alignment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical schematics.
- Knowledge of PLC systems is a plus.
- Basic computer skills and experience preparing service documentation.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle irregular hours as needed.
- Resourcefulness and adaptability in changing work environments.
- Must be able to cross international borders and pass all applicable travel, background, and drug screening requirements.
