Mechanical Estimator
Job Description
Commercial Mechanical Systems & Service is seeking a highly qualified full-time Mechanical Estimator to join our team. This position will be responsible for preparing complete and accurate project bids, including labor and material takeoffs, pricing solicitations, and bid proposals for plumbing, piping, and sheet metal scopes of work.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and review project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work.
- Prepare complete and accurate estimates, including labor and material takeoffs.
- Solicit and review pricing from vendors, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and visit job sites to observe conditions for accurate estimating.
- Prepare estimates using estimating software and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate with team members to develop bids for larger projects.
- Prepare concise and competitive bid proposals.
- Assist with the transition of successful bids to the project management team, including vendor/subcontractor notifications.
- Provide estimating support for other departments and post-bid support to field operations.

Requirements:
Qualifications
- Mechanical piping, plumbing, and sheet metal estimating experience required.
- Previous General Construction/Contractor Experience a plus.
- Ability to consistently provide quality work and successfully meet deadlines.
- Experience estimating non-mechanical scopes (architectural, structural, civil, etc.) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required; experience with estimating software such as QuickPen, Est-MEP, FastPipe, or Trimble .
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, architectural, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or advanced education .
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
