RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking a growth-oriented candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Mechanical Engineering Technician
This position will support the design, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems for test and process equipment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a hands-on environment, working closely with engineers on drivetrain and engine test systems.
Responsibilities

Design, assemble, and troubleshoot electrical circuits controlling test and process equipment with operating voltages ranging from 5V to 700V.

Collaborate with engineers to develop, test, and refine mechanical systems involving engines, transmissions, and axles.

Install instrumentation and assist in setting up data acquisition systems for engine and drivetrain testing.

Perform hands-on work in the shop environment, supporting builds, teardown analysis, and test stand setup.

Document test setups, wiring diagrams, and troubleshoot system issues in real-time.

Assist with continuous improvement of testing procedures and lab/shop safety practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with off-highway or heavy equipment.

Proven experience working with electrical circuits used in test and process equipment.

Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to read technical schematics and drawings.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
Desired Attributes

Knowledge of diesel engine and aftertreatment system codes and safety standards.

Practical experience assembling and diagnosing drivetrain components (e.g., axles, transmissions, driveshafts).

Understanding of drivetrain systems including power flow, gear reduction, and hydraulic coupling.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time efficiently in a dynamic environment.

Pay Range: $28-$33/hour – Commensurate with experience
