Job Purpose

Advise and support Mechanical Engineering activities during EPC and Startup phases until handover to the permanent Asset, ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in terms of Safety, Operability, Reliability, and Maintainability throughout the facility design life cycle.

Reporting and Relationships

  • Reports to: Head of Engineering (NFE1)
  • Internal contacts: Project Management Team (PMT), Operations departments, Engineering & Projects, and HSEQ Group
  • External contacts: Shareholder Subject Matter Experts, EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants

Job Context & Major Challenges

  • Influence project decisions by considering both CAPEX and OPEX for the project life cycle
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, processes, and procedures for assigned projects
  • Participate in reviews and provide technical inputs to designs and procedures for field operations, while mitigating risks from new technologies introduced by the project

Generic Accountabilities - All Employees

  • Safety Health & Environment: Ensure all activities comply with Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies, regulations, and standards
  • Qatarization Program: Contribute to the development of Qatari employees (required for expatriate employees)
  • Firewall Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with anti-trust and competition laws, and firewall policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Engineering support for division strategy and goals, including design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis, advanced troubleshooting, and developing work packs for maintenance modifications
  • Define and document best practices within the area of expertise and recommend performance improvement initiatives
  • Develop plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of tasks and activities, meeting KPIs
  • Provide technical input to other disciplines and functions to support business objectives
  • Control and supervise activities undertaken by contractors, consultants, and service providers
  • Guide less experienced engineers in implementing integrity and reliability systems
  • Support and facilitate the smooth completion of project tie-in requirements
  • Maintain Issue Register, resolving critical issues and managing new technology risks impacting project reliability and availability
  • Provide technical support regarding Management of Change, ensuring asset integrity and reliability in operations
  • Participate in Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews, Value Improvement Workshops, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), scenario-based risk assessments (SBRA), risk screening, and Formal Risk Assessment (FRA)

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years' experience in an oil and gas environment
  • Specialist level of competencies in Mechanical Technical Competencies
  • Able to work and make decisions under highly stressful conditions
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong leadership and people skills
  • Computer literacy with professional office and technical applications
