Summary: The Mechanical Engineering will assist in the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems, machines, and tools. This role provides hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world projects while supporting the engineering team in research, design, and troubleshooting activities. Approximately 50% of this internship will be spent out in the shop with hands-on learning and practical application of engineering concepts.
Duration: May 2026 – August 2026
Compensation: This is a paid internship opportunity.
Hours Expectations: Requested average of 40 hours per week as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Support research and feasibility studies for new designs and processes.
  • Help develop and test prototypes or models under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and prepare preliminary layouts.
  • Assist in specifying components and reviewing modifications for compliance with design standards.
  • Work with CAD software to create or update design drawings.
  • Participate in investigating equipment issues and recommend solutions with supervision.
  • Collaborate with engineers and team members to resolve technical challenges.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by engineering management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Completed coursework in engineering fundamentals and design.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD required; 3D modeling ).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit, stand, bend, crouch, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must meet physical and safety requirements for tool handling.
