Mechanical Engineer – Reverse Engineering & CAD Modeling

Compensation: $90,000 – $125,000 annually (salary‐exempt)
Relocation Assistance: $5,000 (1st half to be paid after successful completion of a 90‐day probationary period, 2nd half to be paid after successful completion of 180 days of employment)
Schedule: Full‐time, up to 60 hours per week, including some nights and weekends
Location: Primarily in‐house with frequent customer‐site visits
Position Summary
Techwood Precision is a precision job shop specializing in high‐mix, short‐run manufacturing and rapid‐response repair work. The Mechanical Engineer will perform advanced reverse engineering, 3D modeling, and technical drawing creation to support both manufacturing and on‐call repair operations. This role requires expert proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‐paced environment.
This is a salary‐exempt position and does not include overtime pay. The role is performed primarily in‐house, with frequent travel to customer sites for measurement, inspection, and urgent repair support. Candidates must be able to work extended hours, including some nights and weekends, in support of emergency repair needs.
This position will also assist with quoting jobs, including evaluating part complexity, estimating engineering time, and supporting cost analysis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer components using precision measurement tools and advanced CAD workflows
- Develop accurate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings suitable for machining
- Reconstruct worn, damaged, or legacy components using engineering judgment and dimensional analysis
- Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality personnel to ensure manufacturability and accuracy
- Assist with job quoting, including evaluating part geometry, tolerances, and production requirements
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast‐paced job‐shop environment
- Perform engineering work in‐house and frequently at customer sites
- Support on‐call repair operations, including some nights and weekends
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and machining fundamentals
- Demonstrated ability to measure, inspect, and interpret complex mechanical components
- Proven experience producing fully constrained models and machinist‐ready prints
- Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a fast‐paced environment
- 5–7 years of mechanical engineering or precision manufacturing experience
- Ability to work up to 60 hours per week during high‐demand periods
Qualifications
- Machining experience (manual or CNC)
- Experience with JobBOSS or similar manufacturing ERP systems ( but not required)
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $90,000 – $125,000, commensurate with experience and capability
