Job Description
Mechanical Building Services Engineer – Estates Team (Hospital Site)\n\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join an estates team at a large hospital site in Oxford. This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm).\n\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality maintenance and technical support across critical building services systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mechanical plant and equipment within a healthcare environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nReport to the Technical Services Manager and act as Lead Technician for mechanical building services on site.\n\nProvide specialist knowledge in mechanical ventilation systems, medical gas systems and F-Gas equipment.\n\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, installations and refurbishment works across the estate.\n\nEnsure all work is completed in accordance with statutory requirements, service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).\n\nSupervise and coordinate the activities of in-house staff and external contractors.\n\nSupport and provide training and guidance to team members where required.\n\nAct as Authorised Person for up to three disciplines, ensuring safe systems of work are maintained.\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nRecognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant Level 3 qualification (theory and practical) in a mechanical discipline.\n\nProven experience in maintenance and hard services within a building services environment.\n\nStrong understanding of mechanical ventilation systems and plant maintenance.\n\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of projects and tasks.\n\nGood IT skills, including experience using CAFM systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.\n\nSuccessful candidates will be subject to a DBS check due to the nature of the working environment.\n\nWorking Hours\n\n40 hours per week\n\nMonday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm\n\n1 hour unpaid break\n\nBenefits\n\nGenerous annual leave allowance\n\nCompany share scheme\n\nTwo paid volunteering days per year\n\nCycle to work scheme\n\nSeason ticket loan\n\nEmployee assistance programme\n\nThis role offers the opportunity to work within a critical healthcare environment, contributing to the reliable operation of essential building services that support patient care and hospital operations
