Mechanical Engineer – Hybrid Role | Oxford | Up to £50k\nEngineering & Software Development | Full-time\n\nWe are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join an innovative quantum technology company in Oxford. This hybrid role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge opto-mechanical systems, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to turn experimental concepts into engineered solutions.\n\nThe Role:\nAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will design, prototype, and test mechanical components and assemblies for optical and ultra-high vacuum systems. You’ll work hands-on in CAD (SolidWorks), perform structural and thermal analysis, and support prototype assembly while ensuring designs are manufacturable and fit for purpose.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * \n\n Capture and interpret mechanical design requirements for optical and vacuum systems.\n\n * \n\n Develop CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation packages.\n\n * \n\n Support rapid prototyping, assembly, and testing of components and systems.\n\n * \n\n Collaborate with production teams and external suppliers for component procurement and integration.\n\n * \n\n Apply engineering analysis to guide design decisions and communicate results effectively.\n\nRequirements:\n\n * \n\n Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or similar.\n\n * \n\n Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience.\n\n * \n\n Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks ) and technical drawing practices (GD&T).\n\n * \n\n Experience with structural and thermal analysis.\n\n * \n\n Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.\n\n * \n\n Desirable: experience with optical systems, lasers, photonics, harsh environment design, or ISO-certified manufacturing environments.\n\nBenefits:\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary up to £50,000\n\n * \n\n Hybrid working with up to 2 days from home\n\n * \n\n Unlimited PTO\n\n * \n\n Generous 10% pension contribution\n\n * \n\n Cycle-to-work and technology schemes\n\n * \n\n Incentive Stock Option Plan\n\n * \n\n Private healthcare after probation\n\nDiversity & :\nWe welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
