Salary: £50,000

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (days & nights)



We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering team within a high-volume process manufacturing site.

This hands-on Mechanical Engineer role sits within a 24/7 operation and focuses on maintaining reliability, improving performance, and supporting continuous improvement across plant equipment, infrastructure and production assets.



The successful Mechanical Engineer will work as part of both proactive and reactive maintenance teams, ensuring all plant and equipment are maintained in line with current health, safety, environmental and statutory standards.

  

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:



Maintaining and improving reliability of site machinery and assets

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance through the CMMS (Holistech)

Responding effectively to breakdowns using structured fault-finding techniques

Working closely with production teams to maximise equipment utilisation

Supporting engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Driving efficiency, energy awareness and cost-effective engineering solutions

Ensuring compliance with SOPs, health & safety legislation and statutory requirements

Completing all relevant maintenance and compliance documentation   

Equipment You’ll Be Working With

This Mechanical Engineer role involves exposure to a wide range of specialist and industrial equipment, including:



Rotary disc dryers, decanters and tricanters

Presses, grinders, hammer mills and vibrating screens

Screw conveyors (augers) and solids pumps

Boilers and factory services (steam, water, air)

Water treatment systems including Reverse Osmosis and membrane systems

Various pump types: centrifugal, diaphragm, mono, peristaltic, submersible and gear

Motor gearbox drives, blowers, filtration systems and mechanical drive mechanisms   

What We’re Looking For



Apprentice trained Mechanical Engineer to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)

Strong industrial mechanical background within a manufacturing or process environment

Proven experience in fault finding and breakdown response

Comfortable working at height, confined spaces and undertaking LOTO procedures

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
