About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering position focused on designing, building, and validating mechanical and electromechanical components used in surgical and orthopedic applications. You will take products from requirements through CAD, prototyping, fixture design, and testing while solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop manufacturable components, assemblies, and fixtures using SolidWorks or NX.
- Support rapid prototyping and DFM for CNC-machined parts.
- Build and test mechanical fixtures and tooling for verification and validation.
- Execute testing in challenging environments including structural, thermal, high-current, and cryogenic conditions.
- Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and create clear engineering reports.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to transition designs into production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of R&D, mechanical design, or test engineering experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or NX).
- Hands-on experience with fixtures, prototype builds, and test setups.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Experience
- Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- DFM for CNC machining and multi-component assemblies.
- Experience with failure analysis, instrumentation, or thermal/mechanical testing.
