Job Description

Omnisent is pioneering scalable acoustic sensing powered by AI — transforming audio into real-time intelligence.

\n

We build hardware + software tailored for acoustic data, designed to extract insights from complex acoustic signals. Our proprietary ultra-low-power sonic devices capture and process acoustic signals in real-time, training what we call a Large Acoustic Model (LAM) — our foundation model built to decode the rich, messy, and untapped world of non-speech audio.

\n

We’re starting with the manufacturing industry, applying our tech to compressed air systems — one of the most overlooked sources of energy waste. From there, we’re expanding into energy, defense, space, and smart cities — sectors where sound is the next frontier.

\nTasks\n

Mechanical Design & Prototyping

\n

    \n
  • Design, make, and test an innovative sensor at the heart of our acoustic platform, in close collaboration with the technical lead.
  • \n

  • Perform dynamics and vibrations calculations and use FEA methods to simulate acoustic and mechanical responses.
  • \n

  • Design microphone arrays to characterize physical parameters of various geometries and environments.
  • \n

  • Develop test setups to characterize acoustic transmission through different materials (e.g., air, walls, machinery).
  • \n

  • Prototype an enclosure for an IoT sensor using additive methods like FDM, SLS, SLA.
  • \n

  • Select materials and fastening methods for tool-less assembly in harsh environments with vibrational loads and EM noise.
  • \n

\n

Device Integration

\n

    \n
  • Collaborate with electronic, mechatronics and signal processing engineers to ensure proper mechanical integration of acoustic devices and PCBs and accessories.
  • \n

  • Iterate and enable the physical systems to adapt seemlessly to changing real-world requirements to develop ground-breaking technology.
  • \n

\n

Certification & Documentation:

\n

    \n
  • Prepare hardware for environmental and regulatory certifications, including IP (e.g., IP67/IP68), CE marking, and mechanical stress testing (vibration, shock, temperature cycling)
  • \n

  • Document designs and key learnings throughout the development lifecycle, building our collective knowledge base.
  • \n

\n

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

\n

    \n
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, and AI teams to ensure tight integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • \n

  • Support prototype development, functional testing, and iterative field deployment at our ongoing pilots in-field.
  • \n

  • Assist in coordinating research collaborations with test labs and well-renowned institutes to translate findings into the mechanical systems of our sensor.
  • \n

  • Contribute to developing best practices and design documentation, ensuring that knowledge is continuously shared among teams
  • \n

\nRequirements\n

Basic Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustic Engineering, Product Design or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • \n

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or electromechanical systems
  • \n

  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., OnShape, Fusion 360, or similar) for 3D modeling, and rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing
  • \n

  • Understanding of acoustic principles and dynamical systems as well as material selection and manufacturing methods for robust mechanical systems
  • \n

  • Fluency in English
  • \n

  • Valid EU work permit
  • \n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Master’s or PhD in a technical discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Acoustic Engineering, or a relared field)
  • \n

  • 4+ years of experience designing dynamical mechanical devices, with focus on vibration, dynamic behaviour, and acoustic performance
  • \n

  • Familiarity with certification requirements for device housings, including IP ratings (e.g., IP67), CE compliance, and environmental standards (e.g., vibration, shock, temperature)
  • \n

  • Familiarity with FEA tools for dynamic and acoustic simulation (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tools
  • \n

  • German skills
  • \n

\n

Join us in redefining how the world listens, understands, and responds through intelligent acoustic sensing.

\n

In your cover letter, we’d love to hear about your personal interests, what drives you, why this role feels like the right fit — and most importantly, why Omnisent.
