Milwaukee, WI Area 

This direct hire role is with a major industrial equipment manufacturer in Milwaukee, WI.

Duties

  • Design large-scale industrial mechanical systems and custom engineered equipment using SolidWorks within a structured 3D collaborative engineering environment. Engineers routinely share and integrate digital models to support cross-functional project execution.
  • Develop and analyze mechanical power transmission systems, including initial sizing and selection of components such as electric motors, gear reducers, couplings, and related drivetrain elements to ensure proper application and performance.
  • Maintain a high level of detail while interpreting and executing customer requirements, engineering specifications, and applicable international design codes and standards.
  • Prepare and annotate technical drawings using standardized industry conventions, including weld symbols, machining callouts, and fabrication notations to clearly communicate design intent to both customers and manufacturing teams.
  • Develop complete Bills of Materials (BOMs) that accurately define all components required for fabrication, assembly, and installation of engineered systems.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, civil, and field installation personnel to support full turnkey project execution.
  • Support modification and upgrade efforts for existing installed equipment, focusing on performance improvements, modernization, and lifecycle extension.
  • Provide technical support to field teams and customers, including troubleshooting assistance and interpretation of engineering documentation when needed.
  • Develop detailed engineering specifications, installation guidelines, and operating procedures for end users and internal teams.
  • Perform engineering optimization of structural and mechanical assemblies such as load-bearing frameworks, motion systems, and transport components with the goal of reducing cost, improving manufacturability, and enhancing delivery timelines.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with demonstrated leadership potential and strong ownership of assigned work
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards including ASME, AISC, and CMAA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering (or closely related field)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience in industrial equipment or heavy mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for engineering documentation and analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks or Pro/ENGINEER (Creo)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, including access to regulated industrial sites such as nuclear facilities
