About the role

  • Employee will provide technical expertise and project engineering as required to support the Gearing and Reliability Solutions team. The position will be responsible for mechanical project development, design, and execution to improve our customer's production and reliability performance, primarily focused on mechanical power transmission systems. Employee must have a desire to be a part of a team focused on personal and professional growth. Employee must have ambitious career plans and the determination to see them through. Employee also must have a demonstrated ability to motivate and lead diverse teams in achieving project goals This position reports to the Director – GRS Technical Services.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate between sales, application engineering, and the build/field services team to ensure the alignment of the customer's expectations and our teams' execution
  • Provide advanced engineering expertise to solve problems and implement changes
  • Developing scope, designing, constructing, and installing or modifying existing equipment
  • Provide field support, including project supervision, equipment design, and troubleshooting of equipment breakdowns
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal customers and leadership
  • Provide emergency response support at all days/times
  • Must be willing to travel at least 20%
  • Performs other duties as assigned

The employee is frequently required to:

  • use of various measuring tools, basic math skills and basic computer skills.
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards, chemicals, or physical risk, which require following basic safety precautions to include the use of PPE.
  • For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in typical office environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Five (5) or more years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mechanical power transmission.
  • Experience in materials, component selection, and general machine shop processes.
  • Experience with increasingly complex machines and systems design using SolidWorks and analysis tools.
  • Experience in machine design, power transmission, steel fabrication design, development, and project management.
  • Successful candidates must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, and have an acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Report as may be required by current company policy.


Qualifications

  • Experience in designing or enhancing power transmission machines/systems
  • Experience designing and hands-on follow-through assembly, test, and install
  • Experience with industrial machine design, including structural mechanics and power transmission.
  • Working knowledge of AMGA, MPTA, or others
  • Proficient with SolidWorks software
  • Project management experience
