Mechanical Engineer – Laser Tracker and Scanner Operator
About ROTATEK
ROTATEK is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Rotating Equipment Specialist team supporting industrial clients with precision alignment, laser metrology, and advanced rotating equipment services.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining field service, advanced measurement technology, technical analysis, and detailed reporting. Engineers in this role work directly with critical machinery in manufacturing, marine, energy, and heavy industrial environments.
What You’ll Do
- Perform precision machinery alignment using laser alignment systems and advanced metrology instruments
- Conduct CMM measurements using Laser Trackers and Articulating Arms
- Analyze field data and prepare detailed technical engineering reports
- Assist clients with troubleshooting, and rotating equipment diagnostics
- Collaborate with reliability and maintenance teams on-site

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning ability
- Willingness to travel (typically 40%–60%)
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
- Ability to pass drug screening
Experience
- Rotating equipment experience
- Laser alignment experience
- Metrology or CMM experience
- Vibration analysis exposure
- Marine or turbine alignment experience
- Enjoys hands-on field work in industrial environments
Work Environment
- Primarily Monday–Friday schedule
- Overtime during project
- Combination of field work and technical reporting
- Regional and occasional out-of-town travel
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $70,000 – $125,000 depending on experience
- Overtime compensation available
