Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III (Multi-hire: 2 openings)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $100,600 - $120,500

Reports to: Director of Engineering/Advanced Programs Manager

Location: Onsite

KULR Technology Location: Webster, Texas

Travel: Some travel required for customer meetings, conferences, and design reviews.

Position Overview:

Under limited supervision, the Mechanical Engineer III works cross-functionally with a team to mature designs and to adapt existing product designs to meet customer needs, a process which involves comprehensive CAD and design engineering, rigorous testing and analysis activities, interaction in a dynamic team environment, and interfacing with KULR’s customers. This position designs battery packs, modules, and safe-storage applications to support one or more of KULR’s product lines or customer builds. Overall, the Mechanical Engineer III focuses on the areas of battery safety, battery development, and mechanical systems.

Functions:

  • Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
  • Create and/or modify existing CAD Drawings. Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products.
  • Create and/or modify mechanical processes and communicate critical features to our manufacturing team during the development of work instructions.
  • Conducts in depth analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
  • Develop and facilitate performance-based test procedures for materials, components and assembled systems to validate design requirements.
  • Aid in assembly of KULR products for customers.
  • Operate 3-D printer(s) for prototyping purposes.
  • Operate CNC(s) (Computerized Numerical Control) and create CAM files for prototyping purposes.
  • Cross-training as needed in additional areas to meet organizational business needs.
  • Reviews and signs mechanical engineering drawings/prints
  • Attends all design reviews and provides feedback
  • Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Science, technology or math background .

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Extensive knowledge of to test and analysis of batteries and related hardware. (desired)
  • Extensive experience involving design processes with cross system/interface interactions (e.g., mechanical/electrical interfacing).
  • Extensive knowledge of common manufacturing processes and applicability to mechanical design strategy (e.g., design of parts for injection mold vs. for machining).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and machining methods via CNC Mill.
  • Exposure to design of structural/mechanical systems, lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Experience working with high energy systems, high power systems, and/or high voltage systems .
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAE, specifically AutoCAD, CREO, or SolidWorks
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to accomplish business objectives.
