This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge while developing practical skills in CAD design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing processes, and product development.What You'll DoAs part of our Engineering team, you'll support the design, development, and testing of mechanical and mechatronic systems while learning industry best practices from experienced engineers.Design & Product DevelopmentAssist in gathering and defining product requirementsResearch materials, manufacturing processes, and technical solutionsSupport the design of mechanical and mechatronic components and assembliesParticipate in developing concepts and evaluating design alternativesLearn how engineering teams manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverablesCAD & Engineering AnalysisCreate and modify 3D CAD models and engineering drawingsAssist with simulations and design validation activitiesSupport analysis related to structural, thermal, and material performanceHelp optimize designs for reliability, manufacturability, weight, and costGain exposure to engineering methodologies such as DFM, DFMEA, and product lifecycle considerationsPrototyping & TestingAssist with prototype assembly and product testingSupport troubleshooting and performance evaluation effortsWork with manufacturing processes including machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printingHelp evaluate assembly methods such as fastening, welding, soldering, and encapsulationParticipate in laboratory testing and validation activitiesDocumentation & Supplier CollaborationAssist with Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and product documentationSupport design review preparation and project documentation effortsWork with suppliers to source custom and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) componentsHelp prepare drawings and models for manufacturing partnersAssist with supplier reviews, quote evaluations, and component selection activitiesTeamwork & Professional GrowthCollaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing team membersParticipate in design reviews and technical discussionsSupport project database and component management effortsHelp maintain an organized and safe lab environmentContribute ideas while learning from experienced engineers and mentorsWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical EngineeringStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsExperience with CAD design software, preferably CreoStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsEffective written and verbal communication abilitiesUnderstanding of fundamental engineering principles, including:MechanicsHeat transferMaterials engineeringAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with FEA, CFD, or other CAE simulation toolsExposure to lithium-ion battery design or energy storage systemsInterest in aerospace, drones, or unmanned systemsExperience with 3D printing and rapid prototypingKnowledge of thermal analysis and thermal management techniquesPrevious project, laboratory, , or engineering club experienceWhat You'll GainReal-world engineering experience on active development projectsMentorship from experienced mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering teamsHands-on exposure to product development from concept through productionExperience with CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processesProfessional development in design reviews, documentation, and supplier collaborationOpportunity to contribute to innovative technologies used in aerospace and advanced electronic systemsAbout Packet DigitalPacket Digital designs, manufactures, and markets advanced electronic solutions for portable electronic devices, embedded systems, energy storage applications, and unmanned aircraft systems.
