Job Overview
Seeking a talented mechanical engineer who is flexible and can work in Spokane, Washington. Expertise with internal combustion engines is highly desirable. Must be able to assist our principal design engineer as a freelancer with initial testing and refinement of a new innovative compact engine design with multiple use cases.
Duties
- Design and analyze internal combustion engine components using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, ensuring adherence to GD&T standards.
- Develop detailed schematics and mechanical drawings for engine parts and assemblies.
- Perform root cause analysis on engine performance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Utilize simulation tools like FEA, MATLAB, Simulink, and LabVIEW to model system behavior and validate designs.
- Apply ASME codes & standards to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance of engine systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes, including CNC machining and system design integration.
- Conduct testing and validation of prototypes using Arduino, LabVIEW, and other measurement tools.
- Engage in project scheduling and coordinate cross-disciplinary tasks to meet project milestones.
- Support troubleshooting efforts related to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and control systems within engine applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees .
- Proven experience with internal combustion engines, including mechanical design and system analysis.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo for mechanical modeling and drafting.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T principles, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience with simulation tools including MATLAB, Simulink, FEA software, and LabVIEW.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining and assembly techniques.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to mechanical design and pressure systems.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino platforms, and control system integration.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis using systematic problem-solving methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
