We are looking for a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years in the aerospace and defense industry. This individual will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and integration of mechanical systems and components for various aerospace platforms, including aircraft, space systems, and defense applications. This is a hands-on engineering role in a multidisciplinary environment that values innovation, precision, and reliability. This position is based at our El Segundo, CA headquarters and requires an onsite presence.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Developmento Lead the mechanical design of complex components and subsystems including structural frames, mechanisms, enclosures, brackets, and mounts.o Generate detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications in compliance with industry standards.Analysis & Simulationo Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis using tools like FEA and CFD.o Optimize designs for weight, cost, manufacturability, and durability.Prototyping & Testingo Support the fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical prototypes.o Develop test plans, oversee test execution, and document results to validate design performance.System Integrationo Collaborate with systems, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into larger systems.o Address fit, form, and function issues during integration and support troubleshooting. Compliance & Documentationo Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and customer specifications (e.g., MIL-STD, ASME, AS9100).o Produce and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs, change logs, and reports.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s ).
- Minimum 2 years of mechanical design experience in the aerospace and/or defense sector.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, design for manufacturing (DFM), and fabrication techniques.
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN).
- Familiarity with aerospace environmental and qualification testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines.
Bonus Points
- Experience with composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Background in designing for high-stress, high-temperature, or high-vibration environments.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices and lifecycle management.
- Security clearance or ability to obtain one.
