Mechanical Engineer – Product Development
Location: Cambridge
About The Role:
Platform Recruitment has partnered with a specialist product development company working across a diverse range of global industries. They’re seeking an engineer with a minimum of 2+ years commercial experience to solve complex challenges, generate novel concepts, run experiments, develop prototypes, and lead client-facing innovation projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, who wants to broaden their expertise and grow into a project-leading role within an organisation known for tackling highly challenging briefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and assess early-stage ideas using both analytical and creative approaches
- 3D CAD design
- Hands-on experimentation, prototyping, and testing
- Lead project planning and day-to-day delivery
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Prepare proposals and take part in customer meetings
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previously worked in early-stage innovation environments
- Minimum 2+ years’ commercial engineering experience
- Strong problem-solving skills - concept , analysis & detail design
- Hands on workshop skills - Prototyping, testing & validation
- Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to complex problems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
