We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer with experience in interface adapters, cables, connectors, and Bill of Materials (BOM) development to support cost proposals for complex build-to-print assemblies. If you enjoy turning engineering drawings into accurate cost proposals, while debating whether a connector should cost $12 or your sanity, this role may be for you.
This position focuses on proposal development and cost analysis for highly technical automated test equipment and interface test assemblies. Minimal design work is involved.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical liaison between customers, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams
- Develop and price detailed BOMs for interface test assemblies, adapters, cables, and related products using customer supplied drawing packages
- Interpret dimensional drawings, wiring diagrams, Gerber files, fab files, parts lists, and ASME Y14.100 documentation
- Generate procurement-ready BOMs to support supplier RFQs and material purchasing
- Support make/buy decisions and supplier selection for machined and sheet metal components
- Translate BOMs into detailed cost proposals, including labor and assembly estimates
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal sourcing teams to ensure accurate material pricing and availability
- Follow established build-to-print processes with customer provided specifications and documentation
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely proposal execution
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering , or related engineering discipline
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, cost estimating, proposals, or BOM development
- Experience with cables, connectors, interface adapters, and electromechanical assemblies strongly
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple technical inputs simultaneously
- U.S. Citizenship required
Compensation
Pay range: $50.00–$58.00/hour
