Hours: 36-hour week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime
We’re working with a well-established UK manufacturer of automated packaging equipment, recognised for designing and producing bespoke denesting and feeding systems for a wide range of production environments. As the business continues to grow, they’re looking to strengthen their engineering team with a hands-on Mechanical Engineer based at their site in Heywood.
This is a workshop-based role offering real variety — from machine assembly and testing to servicing and installation — where you’ll play an active part in building high-quality, innovative machinery used by leading packaging manufacturers across the UK and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build, assemble, and test automated packaging machinery within the workshop
• Support with overhauls, fault-finding, and mechanical rebuilds
• Carry out occasional site work for installations, testing, and service visits
• Work closely with production and design teams to ensure machines meet quality and performance standards
• Provide guidance and mentorship to the company’s engineering apprentice
What We’re Looking For:
• Proven experience in mechanical assembly, build, or maintenance of machinery
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of pneumatics and fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• A practical, proactive approach with a focus on quality and precision
• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer site support
What’s on Offer:
• Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
• 36-hour working week with overtime available
• Stable, growing manufacturer with a reputation for quality and reliability
• Supportive working environment with long-term development opportunities
