Mechanical Engineer - Static Site



Location: Liver Building, Liverpool



Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent



Salary: Up to £40,000 (DOE)



Working Hours: Monday to Friday (Flexible start/finish times)



About the Role



We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the iconic Liver Building. This is a static, full-time position focused on maintaining and improving complex mechanical systems within a Grade I listed property. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preserving the building's heritage while ensuring modern operational standards.



Key Responsibilities



Maintain and repair legacy heating systems, including steam boilers and associated infrastructure



Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on plumbing, boiler, and heating systems



Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions with minimal disruption to building operations



Liaise with contractors and heritage specialists to ensure compliance with listed building regulations



Support energy efficiency initiatives while respecting the building's historic integrity



Maintain accurate records of work carried out and system performance



Essential Skills & Experience



Proven experience working with old heating systems, particularly steam boilers



Strong background in plumbing and mechanical systems maintenance



Familiarity with the challenges of working in listed or heritage buildings



Ability to work independently and manage time effectively



Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail



Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
