Mechanical Engineer

You know that feeling when you’re halfway through fixing something at home, only to realise the job’s way bigger than you thought? Well, imagine that, but in a busy FMCG factory with production teams staring at you like you’re Gandalf.

That’s pretty much this role.

We’re looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our in-house engineering team. Your job? Keep the machines running. Sometimes that means planned maintenance. Sometimes it’s a breakdown at 3am when you’d really rather not be there, but you’re the one who knows how to fix it.

It’s a hands-on role where you’ll be fitter, fabricator, welder, service engineer, and problem-solver rolled into one. Variety is guaranteed. Boredom isn’t.

The work you’ll be doing

• Keeping production machinery running and safe

• Fixing breakdowns before they ruin everyone’s day

• Helping us move from firefighting to proper planned maintenance

• Using test kit to find and sort faults (instead of guessing and hitting things with a hammer)

• Welding, fitting, fabricating – whatever it takes to keep production moving

• Chipping in with Lean and OEE improvements (because “that’s how we’ve always done it” isn’t good enough)

What you’ll need

• You’re mechanically biased (Level 3+ qualified in Engineering)

• You’ve worked in a manufacturing environment before, ideally FMCG

• You take safety seriously, because no bottle, bar, or box is worth losing a finger over

• You’re fit enough for a job that’s physical

• You can communicate like a grown-up and work as part of a team

• You’ve got some decent experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, bearings, and all the usual suspects

Extra brownie points if you’ve done an apprenticeship, have an HNC/HND, or you’ve worked in heavy industry.

What’s in it for you

• £45,217 average annual salary (inclusive of allowances/bonuses)

• Paid weekly (yes, weekly)

• Overtime if you want it

• Proper training and kit to keep you safe

• Pension, life assurance, and flexible benefits

• Share scheme if you fancy being part-owner

The shifts

Four on, four off. Mix of days and nights. Flexibility needed. Coffee recommended
