Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with hands-on skills in designing automation equipment. The position will include designing, supervising the manufacture, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of industrial automation equipment. The candidate will support process optimization efforts throughout the facility. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues related to industrial and manufacturing equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of safety policies and standards that are applicable for industrial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design custom automated machines, components, and mechanical systems from concept through production.
  • Develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using Creo software.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Select appropriate materials, components, actuators, sensors, and drive systems.
  • Perform mechanical calculations and simulations to ensure functionality, safety, and reliability.
  • Participate in design reviews and project planning to meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Support prototype fabrication, machine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide engineering support for installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of automation systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides.
  • Provide technical training and support to operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and automation strategies.

Travel Requirement

  • Travel up to 25% for vendor coordination, equipment installation, troubleshooting, and support at different manufacturing facilities or supplier locations.


Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably focused on automated machinery or industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Creo ).
  • Knowledge of motion control systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical actuators.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and DFM principles.
  • Experience with FEA or other mechanical simulation tools is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

:

  • Experience with robotics.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems.
  • Experience designing machines for packaging, assembly, or material handling.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, robotics, and industrial control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with machine builds and commissioning.
  • Understanding of safety standards and risk assessments (e.g., ANSI, ISO, CE marking).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, reach, and climb ladders while working on equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read detailed technical drawings and computer screens.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools during prototyping and testing.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environments with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
