About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer (PE) with a strong background in building systems design to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for a variety of complex projects including institutional, commercial, healthcare, education, laboratory, and government facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of mechanical engineering as it relates to assigned projects.
  • Design mechanical systems including:
  • HVAC: Split systems, packaged heat pumps, chilled/hot water hydronics, steam/condensate, constant/variable volume air distribution systems.
  • Plumbing: Medical gas systems, hot/cold water, waste and vent systems, compressed air systems.
  • Fire Protection: Prepare performance drawings and specifications for wet and dry pipe systems.
  • Conduct appropriate fieldwork to assess existing conditions and determine design direction, including decisions on system upgrades.
  • Independently manage and design multiple systems for highly complex projects.
  • Lead and implement cross-discipline coordination with project teams.
  • Provide Construction Administration services including site visits, submittal reviews, and responding to RFIs.
  • Perform self-QC on designs and proactively seek peer reviews when needed.
  • Collaborate within a team environment to complete projects from concept through construction with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical emphasis.
  • 5+ years of consulting engineering experience with building mechanical systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (latest edition) and Revit (latest edition).
  • Experience using HVAC load analysis software (HAP or TRACE).
  • Familiarity with business operations systems and processes.
