Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer plays a vital role in supporting plant operations through mechanical systems design, capital
equipment improvements, and manufacturing process optimization. This hands-on, plant-based role works closely with
production, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, manage projects, and enhance
manufacturing reliability and efficiency. The ideal candidate brings a proactive, solution-oriented mindset with experience in
industrial manufacturing environments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Plant Engineering
• Design and implement mechanical systems for equipment installations, modifications, and facility upgrades.
• Create and maintain accurate mechanical drawings and documentation using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Specify mechanical components and lead integration of new systems into existing production environments.
• Manage and execute capital equipment projects from concept to completion.
Troubleshooting & Equipment Support
• Provide technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical issues affecting production, tooling, or facility
systems.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and help optimize uptime and equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve equipment problems and improve long-term
performance.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
• Work with manufacturing, logistics, and quality teams to identify and implement mechanical improvements.
• Assist in production layout design, equipment relocation, and space planning for new or reconfigured lines.
• Provide technical guidance and training to internal teams on new equipment and system upgrades.
Compliance & Documentation
• Ensure all mechanical systems meet OSHA/ANSI regulations, Placon standards, and applicable codes.
• Maintain manuals, drawings, and documentation for mechanical equipment and hardware systems.
• Support ISO quality systems and participate in internal audits or compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, including capital project execution and mechanical
system support.
Technical Expertise
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems design in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience with mechanical troubleshooting, facility layout, and production line integration.
• Knowledge of OSHA/ANSI standards, ISO requirements, and equipment documentation practices.
Desired Skills
• Familiarity with plastic processing equipment, thermoforming, or similar high-speed systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of plant infrastructure systems (HVAC, compressed air, utilities).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across capital and support projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic production environment.
