Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in data center design, construction, and operations. This role will focus on designing, evaluating, and implementing mechanical systems such as HVAC, cooling, and fire protection to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and specify mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation, and piping for data centers.
  • Conduct mechanical load calculations, airflow analysis, and energy modeling.
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, and controls engineers during design and construction phases.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot field issues during construction and post-occupancy.
  • Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements to optimize PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.), and client requirements.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors to coordinate project deliverables and technical specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Participate in value engineering and cost estimation efforts during design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; PE license .
  • 3–7+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably with data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, thermal management, and mechanical codes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trace 700).
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and Tier classifications (Uptime Institute or similar).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • PE (Professional Engineer) licensure.
  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable building practices.
  • Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center clients (e.g., AWS, Google, Meta, etc.).
  • Commissioning or construction field experience.
