Mechanical engineer

The Opportunity

Ivy Resource Group is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to take responsibility for all mechanical requirements across a diverse project portfolio. You will work closely with design teams and suppliers, with a focus on offsite assembly and modularisation. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with commercial teams, oversight of procurement, and quality control of mechanical installations.



Key Responsibilities



Lead mechanical elements of projects, ensuring alignment with programme, budget, and quality targets



Support sustainability goals through modern construction practices



Coordinate with designers and suppliers to utilise BIM and digital tools for integrated project delivery



Administer sub-contracts and material orders, reviewing and approving supplier proposals



Conduct factory inspections, audits, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and technical standards



Monitor mechanical installation works, track progress, and report on cost performance



Implement robust quality assurance plans and maintain thorough records



Coordinate with site teams to successfully deliver critical outage works with minimal disruption



What We're Looking For



Proven experience in mechanical project engineering within manufacturing or construction



Strong technical, analytical, and organisational skills



Experience with both pre-production and on-site mechanical engineering



Knowledge of MMC, Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, and BIM essential



Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)



Commercially astute and capable of multi-tasking across multiple workstreams



IT literate, excellent interpersonal skills, and able to work collaboratively with stakeholders



SMSTS and relevant CSCS card desirable



Professional membership or qualification is advantageous
