We are seeking highly motivated and innovative engineer with expertise in airway systems and pressurized gas technologies. At Huish Outdoors you will be given the unique opportunity to work with a vast array of airway products, and other materials, and manufacturing techniques ranging from high precision machining, plastic injection molding, technical textiles, and many more. Our engineers are passionate about our products and strive to further their knowledge base through research and experience with emerging materials, design practices, and manufacturing processes.

This position will be responsible for designing new and innovative products and bringing vision to reality when it comes to new ideas. Taking ideas from concept to reality by managing projects through careful coordination with internal and external resources to bring that concept to life. As an engineer you will work with cross functional teams to assist in sourcing new materials, setting up new production lines, and drive an ongoing effort of continuous improvement of our products and manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Passionate about safety-critical product design and airway breathing systems and pressurized gas technologies
  • Provide expertise in the following areas: design engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, product design and project management
  • Design and develop innovative products that dominate our market and grow our industry specific to our airways and buoyancy divisions
  • Manage new product development lifecycle. Including but not limited to delegating design requirements, sourcing materials, testing materials and products, and vendor communications
  • Testing of new products and materials and verification of design outputs
  • Assist in maintenance of Quality Management System. Create quality control (QC) processes and procedures
  • Audit manufacturing processes and procedures for existing product lines; Ensure scalability and sustainability
  • Create engineering drawings and work instructions for production teams. Ensure instructions are easily understood
  • Working knowledge of general dimensioning and tolerancing of technical drawings.
  • Provide technical support to dealers and customer care team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 3 or more years work experience
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure vessel design and metallurgy
  • Skilled in mechanical design for pressurized air/gas systems
  • Experienced with relevant testing standards (ANSTI, EN250, MILSTD)
  • Motivated to work in a collaborative, fast moving environment
  • Experience with machined products and machining processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Solid Works suite of products, and ability to maintain detailed revision controls
  • Expert ability to communicate effectively with others including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to others helpful
  • Expert ability to model Huish Outdoors's commitment to a respectful, diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment helpful
  • Expert ability to assertively solve strategic problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists helpful
  • Demonstrated success managing projects to completion with minimal oversight and against aggressive timelines
  • Expert ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
