Job Description

The Role\n\nWe are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to join a well-established industrial environment in Preston area. This is a hands-on role requiring both electrical and mechanical expertise, supporting production equipment, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities.\n\nThe successful candidate will be self-sufficient, proactive, and solution-focused, with a strong background in industrial engineering.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial machinery\n\n * Planned and reactive maintenance\n\n * Installation, repair, and replacement of electrical components\n\n * Supporting continuous improvement and suggesting process enhancements\n\n * Working collaboratively within an engineering and production team\n\n * Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards\n\nElectrical Experience Required\n\n * Sensor fault finding and replacement\n\n * Motor swaps and installations\n\n * PLC experience (fault finding / basic diagnostics)\n\n * Inverter / VFD drives\n\n * Three-phase installation and fault investigation\n\n * Electrical testing and diagnostics\n\nMechanical Experience Required\n\n * Bearing replacement\n\n * Pneumatics and air systems\n\n * General fabrication and mechanical fitting\n\n * Mechanical fault diagnosis and repairs\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\n * Minimum 2 years’ industrial engineering experience\n\n * Minimum BTEC Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering\n\n * 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations\n\n * Strong understanding of industrial maintenance environments\n\nPerson Specification\n\n * Self-sufficient and able to work independently\n\n * Team-focused with strong communication skills\n\n * Solution-oriented mindset\n\n * Proactive and willing to step forward with improvement suggestions\n\n * Keen to develop skills and progress professionally\n\n * Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n\n * Stable role within a strong industrial business\n\n * Opportunities for development and upskilling\n\n * Supportive engineering team environment\n\n * Competitive pay and long-term prospects
