Reliance One, Inc. is hiring a Mechanical Development Test Engineer / Project Engineer II to provide technical expertise and program execution support across engineering departments and cross-functional program teams.
General Description
This role provides technical and program execution support to engineering departments and cross-functional engineering program teams, with a focus on mechanical system development and durability.
Skill Team Overview
The Mechanical Development (MED) Team delivers mechanical system development and durability expertise across a variety of engine systems, including but not limited to:
- Cooling systems
- Lubrication and vent systems
- Cranktrain
- Valvetrain
- Power cylinder
- EGR systems
- Sealing systems
- Base engine structures
Key Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer II, responsibilities include:
- Planning and performing mechanical development and durability/validation activities
- Managing engineering resources based on project requirements
- Supporting specific project phases including technical studies, specifications, technical plans, engine testing, data analysis, and validation
- Ensuring data quality and preparing technical project reports
- Reviewing projects for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements
- Coordinating technical development activities, scheduling, and resolution of engineering test issues
- Supporting, organizing, and leading customer meetings
- Performing additional duties as required to support project success
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Master’s degree
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience

- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, market segments, and end-user expectations
- Independent functionality in at least two of the following areas:
- Cooling system development
- Lubrication and vent system development
- Pistons, cylinders, and piston rings
- Cylinder head, valvetrain, and vibrations
- Engine structures and material strength
- Durability and validation testing
- Reliability and quality
- Transmission and driveline development
Relational
- Leadership of small to medium-sized technical teams
- Effective collaboration with customers and internal teams
- Accountability for individual and team deliverables
- Program and resource coordination
- Commitment to personal and departmental improvement
- Strong communication across all levels of the program team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to balance, climb stairs, sit, stand (up to 4 hours/day), and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry items ranging from light (under 15 lbs) to heavy (45+ lbs)
- Visual ability to read screens, detect coding, and read fine print
- Hearing ability to detect equipment sounds and participate in normal conversations
