Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer\nLocation: York\nSalary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum\n\n We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in York. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of machinery and automotive-related projects, with a strong focus on fabrication and sheet metal design.\n\n Key Responsibilities:\n\nDesign mechanical components, assemblies, and machinery using SolidWorks.\n\nProduce detailed 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models.\n\nDesign sheet metal components and welded fabrications to manufacturing standards.\n\nSupport machinery and automotive design projects from concept through to manufacture.\n\nLiaise with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.\n\nGenerate BOMs and technical documentation.\n\nSupport prototype builds, testing, and design improvements.\n\nSkills & Experience Required:\n\nStrong experience using SolidWorks (essential).\n\nBackground in mechanical design within fabrication, machinery, or automotive environments.\n\nMedium-level experience with fabrication and sheet metal design.\n\nGood understanding of manufacturing processes including welding and machining.\n\nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\n\nRelevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.\n\nIf you’re a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a role offering technical variety and hands-on involvement, please apply or contact Charlotte White at (url removed) for more information
