Mechanical Design Engineer in Stevenage

Mechanical Engineering is excited to offer multiple opportunities for Mechanical Design Engineers to support the development of mechanical solutions across all stages of the Product Life Cycle, from early concept and detailed design through qualification, production, and in-service support.\n\nWorking under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute to the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for a range of complex weapons and weapon systems, while developing your technical capability within a supportive multi-disciplinary environment.\n\nSalary: Circa £35,000 to £50,000 depending on experience\n\nLocation: Stevenage (relocation package may be available)\n\nDynamic (Hybrid) Working: an average of 2-3 days per week on-site dependent on work classification\n\nSecurity Clearance: British or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to and/or rights to work may apply. \nThe Opportunity:\n\nThe roles provide excellent opportunities to build experience across the full product life cycle, working on real defence programmes while being supported by experienced engineers. You will gain exposure to structured development processes, qualification activities, and multi-disciplinary collaboration, with clear opportunities for technical growth and progression within MBDA. Appointments will be made at an appropriate level based on skills and experience.\n\nWhat we're looking for from you:\nIdeally Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), or working towards one\n\nEarly-career experience or relevant placements in mechanical design or development\n\nAn understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals\n\nWillingness to learn and apply structured design approaches such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM\n\nAbility to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team\n\nClear written and verbal communication skills\n\nA proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks\n\nInterest in developing knowledge of proving, qualification, and compliance activities\n\nBasic experience with 3D CAD/CAE tools (training provided on company systems)\nNote: This role may involve UK travel and occasional European travel.\n\nInterested?
