Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Revit / Piping & Skid Design
Location: Houston, TX
 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in Revit, piping and equipment layout, and skid-mounted system design. This role plays a vital part in the design and development of mechanical and process systems used across industries such as oil & gas, chemical, water treatment, and industrial automation.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in developing 3D equipment models, piping layouts, and fabrication-ready skid packages using Revit and other design tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical layouts for piping systems, equipment, and skid assemblies using Revit
• Create and manage 3D models, general arrangement (GA) drawings, P&IDs, and isometric piping drawings
• Work closely with process engineers, project managers, and fabricators to deliver complete skid or modular system designs
• Ensure alignment of designs with project specifications, codes, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API)
• Integrate valves, instrumentation, piping supports, and structural frames into comprehensive 3D layouts
• Support the of BOMs (Bills of Materials), fabrication drawings, and assembly instructions
• Participate in design reviews, clash detection, and model coordination
• Provide technical support during fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• 3–6 years of experience in mechanical design with a focus on piping layout and equipment skid design
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit for 3D modeling and mechanical systems layout
• Solid understanding of piping systems, materials, fittings, pressure ratings, and layout best practices
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.1, or equivalent piping design standards
• Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary team setting

Qualifications:

• Experience with other CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, Navisworks, or Inventor)
• Prior experience with modular plant design, process skids, or packaged mechanical systems
• Knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes
• Exposure to clash detection tools or model-based coordination
