Mechanical Design Engineer\nLocation: Southampton Area (Hybrid)\nEmployment Type: Full-Time\nOverview\nWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy based in Fareham. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with 2–5 years’ experience to take on greater responsibility, contribute to exciting projects, and progress toward a senior role.\n The Mechanical Design Engineer will deliver sustainable, innovative mechanical design solutions across residential, commercial, education, and healthcare projects, working from concept through to project completion.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, ventilation, hot & cold-water systems, and plantrooms\nPrepare calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation in line with UK standards\nProduce and modify design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit (Revit experience desirable)\nParticipate in client, contractor, and internal design meetings, contributing technical expertise\nSupport site inspections and technical assessments as required\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions\nStay up-to-date with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, industry best practices, and low-carbon technologies\nCandidate Profile\n\nDegree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering\n2–5 years’ experience in mechanical building services design within consultancy or contracting\nProficiency in Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD; Revit knowledge is advantageous\nStrong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE standards, and sustainable design principles\nConfident communicator with strong interpersonal skills\nMotivated to develop toward Senior Engineer level and progress toward Chartered status\nWhy Join Us\n\nWork for a consultancy recognised for delivering high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions\nSupportive team environment with mentoring from senior engineers\nFlexible hybrid working model promoting work–life balance\nCompetitive salary, benefits package, and professional development support (CPD, pension, healthcare)\nExposure to diverse projects and genuine opportunities for career progression\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to advance their career, take on responsibility, and gain exposure to challenging, high-profile projects.
