JOB – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION – Manchester
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
My client design and manufacture high-tech products for a global client base. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with knowledge of manufacturing principles to join their team in Chester on a permanent basis.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
4 or more years’ of experience working in a similar Mechanical Design position
Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarBe proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor etc.
Strong experience with R&D, testing, prototype development, DFM etc.
Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
Good knowledge of different metal materials, manufacturing techniques and machining processes
Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
Experience with SAP software
Knowledge of Continuous improvement
Experience with process management would also be beneficial
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficient using MS Office
Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
Completing detailing, documentation and assembly drawings
Liaising with manufacturing providers
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
Being involved in final assembly of products
Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
Updating 3D models and drawings
Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
Checking drawings for sign off
Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
