Job Description

Our client, an Aerospace and Defence supplier is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join them on a contract basis at their site in Cheltenham.\n\nDue to the nature of the role, applicants must hold the British and be willing to obtain SC Clearance.\nHybrid working, 3 days per week onsite on average.\n£58 p/h Umbrella, inside IR35.\n6-month contract.To provide Mechanical Design Support to the Project under guidance of the Lead Mechanical Engineer. To provide Design innovation, support to the overall project for mechanical elements and interaction between the project and company disciplines.\n\nDesign and develop electro-mechanical systems using Creo 3D modelling and 2D drafting.\nProvide mechanical design solutions that consider the full life cycle of the product.\nKnowledge of designing products subjected to harsh environmental loads/conditions.\nGood understanding of mechanical fundamentals e.g. stress/strain relationships, springs, fastener selection etc.\nGood understanding of material selection and finishes.\nLiaise with support functions, mainly supply chain to manage supplier agreement on part design and drawings.\nLiaise with the Operations Team to achieve practical and economical design solutions.\nCompetent at Configuration and Change management\nKnowledge of designing electrical wiring assemblies, electronic PCB assemblies and other sub-assemblies in electromechanical designs, with input to the electronics design and PCB layout, would be advantageous.\nFamiliarity with aerospace materials & manufacturing methods\nCompetent at designing for manufacture and production processes.\nWorking knowledge of TeamCenter would be advantageous.May be required to prepare documentation including:\n\nBOMs, Drawings for internal circulation, detail production drawings and parts lists.\nreports for internal and external circulation\ntest specifications for systems and sub-assemblies\ndetail drawings for test rigs\ntechnical proposals\nactivity reports as required\npresentations as necessaryQualifications:\n\nRelevant qualifications to an appropriate level, typically a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering\nEligible to obtain any government security clearances as appropriate to the local business.Skills:\n\nHighly motivated\nStrong innovation skills\nProven ability to solve process and engineering problems\nAdaptable\nExcellent interpersonal skills and team focused.\nGood report writing/presentation skills
