Position: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Belleville, MI

Direct Hire

Shift: 1st shift

Pay: $70-90k

 

Job Summary:

The Product Design Engineer position will be responsible for working on projects as well as working with an Engineering Team to research, analyze, model, and create detailed drawings to support new product designs and troubleshoot existing product designs. The Product Design Engineer will regularly work with manufacturing to develop samples, test designs and analyze results.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

•         Works with Sales for Application Engineering with a focus on machine specifications and solid models

•         Develop machine Technical Data Packages (TDP’s) for sales

•         Works with Engineering to Design, build, and tests new equipment prototypes

•         Works with Manufacturing to implement new machine builds and Product Design improvements.

•         Works with Engineering Team and Manufacturing Team to Design and develop project schedules.

•         Develop machine Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for operations

•         Supports the Engineering Team with the maintenance and release of engineering drawings, system designs and/or engineering documentation and data by applying industry and governmental standards.

•         Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specification requirements.

•         Helps to Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and making recommendations.

•         Works cross functionally to refine and enhance products by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.

•         Work with CAD software, specifically SolidWorks engineering software daily.

•         Utilize engineering mathematics, mechanics and materials science daily.

•         Participates in technical groups and contribute to test plans, testing, and technical reviews to support the program life-cycle and its supporting engineering artifacts.

 

 

 

Required Skills & Competencies 

·      High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. (Bachelor Degree )

·      Experience in automation or application industries.

·      Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

·      Basic understanding of MRP and inventory control, Oracle a plus

·      Knowledge of accounting principles, analysis, and reporting of financial data.

·      Well written and good verbal communication skills

·      Strong sense of organizational skills and urgency

·      Prefer 1-3 years of material controls, logistics, industrial, or customer service experience

Qualifications:

Required:

•         4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited college or university

•         4 years combined experience (work and school) with SolidWorks mechanical engineering software

•         Understanding of and experience with FEA/FMEA

•         Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of engineering mathematics, mechanics and materials science.

 

:

•         2+ years working experience in a manufacturing environment

•         Experience with ANSYS CAE engineering simulation and 3D design software a plus

•         Experience with any CAE or CAM software programs is a plus
