Job DescriptionJob Description
Mechanical Design Engineer – Build and Lead from the Ground Up!
Location: Vero Beach, FL (On-Site)
Salary: $80K–$100K (Depending on Experience)
Be the Foundation of a New Engineering Department
Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in automation and a drive to lead? This is a unique opportunity to be the first mechanical designer hired into a new and growing division within a well-established, forward-thinking manufacturing company.
In this high-impact role, you’ll work independently as the go-to mechanical design expert, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including electrical engineering and R&D—to develop complex, automated machinery from the ground up. As the division scales, this role is set to evolve into a leadership position, giving you the chance to shape the future of the department.
What You’ll Be Doing:
-
Designing automated machinery and mechanical systems from concept through production
-
Leading mechanical design efforts as a solo contributor while coordinating with cross-functional teams
-
Supporting customer conversations and consultations on technical requirements
-
Collaborating with Sales Engineers to estimate costs and design timelines
-
Driving innovation and product development alongside the R&D team
-
Creating and maintaining detailed mechanical documentation, including pneumatic schematics, parts/assembly drawings, and risk assessments
-
Ensuring safety and compliance with ANSI/ISO 12100 and other relevant standards
-
Participating in client meetings, testing, and final delivery processes
What We’re Looking For:
-
3+ years of experience in mechanical design for automated machinery or systems
-
Proficiency in SolidWorks and a deep understanding of mechanical design principles
-
Experience managing design budgets and time-tracking throughout development cycles
-
Strong technical communication skills for both internal collaboration and external client interaction
-
A proactive mindset and ability to thrive in a startup-style environment within a larger organization
-
Comfort working independently while partnering closely with electrical, R&D, and manufacturing teams
Why This Role Stands Out:
-
Grow with the division — you'll have the chance to step into a leadership role as the team expands
-
Autonomy and influence — this is not a backseat design job; you’ll drive key decisions and processes
-
Stability meets innovation — work within a company that values tradition but invests in cutting-edge technologies and automation
-
Direct impact — see your designs come to life in real, industrial-scale applications
