Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Our client, a leading water sector specialist are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to work out of Paddington, London. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the design and delivery of mechanical systems in alignment with Thames Water’s operational and technical requirements.\n \nThis role would be best suited to an individual with 3-5 years experience who is looking to further develop their career and received tailored support to become a competent multi-discipline engineer. \n \n Key Responsibilities:\n \nProduce and review mechanical design documentation including: \nPumping systems \nPipework layouts \nFiltration units \nWater and wastewater treatment systems \nWork closely with civil and electrical engineering teams to develop integrated solutions. \nAttend regular client meetings (e.g., weekly progress updates, hazard reviews).
\nSupport stakeholder communication and ensure design solutions align with client expectations. \nEngage with the supply chain for the specification and procurement of mechanical equipment. \nConduct site visits for surveys and inspections.
\nProvide technical support during construction and commissioning phases as needed. \n Required Skills & Experience:\n \nDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. \nExperience in the design of mechanical systems within the water or wastewater sectors.
\nKnowledge of UK water industry standards and practices (e.g., WIMES). \nAbility to interpret and produce P&IDs, layout drawings, and technical specifications. \nStrong communication skills for effective collaboration and client engagement.
\nFull UK driving license (for site travel). \nFamiliarity with 3D design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit)
