CETO Talent is proud to be partnering with a rapidly growing design consultancy working at the forefront of major projects in the UK water and utilities sector. Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, we’re looking to speak with Mechanical Design Engineers ready to make a real impact.\n\n Location: Manchester (Hybrid working available)\n Type: Contract (Outside IR35)\n Sector: Water & Utilities Infrastructure\n Start Date: ASAP\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing:\n\n * Delivery of mechanical design packages, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance\n\n * Produce detailed design calculations and technical drawings for water and wastewater projects\n\n * Manage and support junior engineers and CAD technicians\n\n * Oversee and coordinate with subcontract M&E design teams\n\n * Engage with equipment suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders\n\n * Conduct site investigations and prepare technical reports and specifications\n\n * Support project meetings and design presentations\n\n * Provide accurate estimates for design hours and project scope\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\n * mechanical design experience within the water sector (clean and/or wastewater)\n\n * Strong hydraulic design knowledge\n\n * Understanding of electrical/control systems and construction methods\n\n * Degree or HND in mechanical engineering or related field\n\n * Proficiency in industry-standard software and drawing practices\n\n * Chartered or working towards chartered status (desirable)\n\nKey Skills:\n\n * Communication skills\n\n * Results-driven with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach\n\n * Confident managing technical challenges and mentoring others\n\nWhy Apply?\n\n * Work with a thriving, fast-growing team delivering high-impact UK infrastructure\n\n * Be part of a supportive, collaborative culture that values expertise and innovation\n\n * Flexible contract options outside IR35, or secure a permanent role depending on your preference\n\n * Opportunity to make your mark on essential projects in the utilities and water space
